Our sheep herd

Our sheep herd is a private flock that exists of approximately 400 Drentse heather sheep, most of which are approved by the Drents heather sheep association. The diversity of colour is one of the quality marks of this flock. The rare colour mixture white and badger face are also present in our flock.

At this moment we are the only owners in the Netherlands that own a white and badger face ram that are both ARR/ARR.

The main part of the herd is already examined for scrapie and one third of the herd now at least has a single ARR. We try to use as many cover rams as possible, we keep an average of at least one ram on 15 ewes. This is to keep the inbreeding coefficient as low as possible. the herd grazes all year round at the nature reserve “the Wittelterveld”.
